Flourishing on the Fleurieu Business and Community Forum Summary

The Flourishing on the Fleurieu Business and Community Forum was held at McKaren Country Club on the 25th May 2016 with 22 business, community and local government people attending. A variety of topics were covered that linked to Ageing as a social and economic asset. As the Blueprint for an Ageing Australia (2014) says “Look for ways that older Australians can participate more effectively in our society and our economy to the best of their abilities.”

The the Fleurieu region has 51% of the population over 50 years of age. The RDA is seeking ways that as a community and region we can use this in a positive way. Already the region does this very well but there is still much that could be done. Older people come with skills, knowledge and experience as well as particular needs. The forum presented several topics that looked at how we can ensure older people remain engaged and connected as customers and clients, employees, business owners and valued members of our community. This provides economic benefit to all and better health outcomes and well-being for individuals. Also what benefits one group often has positive effects on others of all age groups.

The Supply & Value Chain Guide joins the RDA’s Investment Attraction Toolkit and is for small business owners to analyse and develop a greater understanding of their supply chains and identify further value for their business through Value Chain Analysis in order to facilitate growth or assist in general day to day business operations.
