Building Better Regions Fund Round 3 Announcement

The Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Michael McCormack MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development has announced the projects to be funded under Round Three of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

A total of 166 projects to the value of $197.4 million have been approved for funding under the Infrastructure Projects Stream.

 
A total of 164 projects to the value of $6.9 million have been approved for funding under the Community Investments Stream.

 
Round Three was highly competitive with 915 applications received under both streams. A list of the successful projects is available at www.business.gov.au/bbrf.

The list of successful applicants in our region that have been offered funding under the Building Better Regions Fund Infrastructure Projects stream for round three:

Rotary Club of Victor Harbor Inc. - Victor Harbor, SA 
Kings Beach: Viewing Deck, Revegetation and Historical Signage.

Grant approved: $34,905 Project cost: $69,905

The project will deliver a new viewing deck at Kings beach with picnic/rest area with tables, new signage to highlight significance of the area and landscaping utilising native plants which will provide: 

  • Some of the best panoramic views in the region looking over the Great Southern Ocean and the wildlife (whales, dolphins, seabirds)
  • An opportunity to read about the importance for the region of its Indigenous and European history. 
  • Economic and social impetus to the Victor Harbor community. 
  • An opportunity for the SA Heysen trail walkers to rest and view the fabulous coastal scenery as they pass near the site. 

The Fleurieu is one of the most visited regions in South Australia and this new infrastructure will benefit the local community and visitors alike. 

Apple & Pear Growers of SA Inc. - Forest Range, SA
Optimised Water Management Supported by Sustainable Pumping Technology 

Grant approved: $400,000 Project cost: $1,027,600
With an overarching aim to optimise orchard pumping and watering systems and install infrastructure that will result in reduced energy consumption and costs, and water saving at 22 orchards across the South Australian Apple, Pear and Cherry industries, the project will include the installation and commissioning of Solar technology including inverters and panels at 42 water pumping stations across 22 grower sites. The project will support the sustainability of the Apple Pear and Cherry industries, provide relief from rising energy costs and reduce growing pressure on these industries. 


Gumeracha Main Street Project Working Party Inc. - Gumeracha, SA
Gumeracha Village Heart 

Grant approved: $232,000 Project cost: $464,000

The project will develop Albert Street, the main street at Gumeracha in South Australia with improvements such as: 

  • Construction of four build-outs/crossing points. 
  • Construction of 11 rumble strips. 
  • Installation of 55 advanced cherry trees in resin bound gravel tree pits. 
  • Installation of 6200m2 of low growing native plantings. 
  • Installation of 16 new seats. 
  • Construction of four gateway markers. 
  • Installation of three information signs.
  • Installation of a number of public artworks to an existing concrete wall. 
  • Construction of two small paved areas.

Kangaroo Island Industry and Brand Alliance - Kingscote, SA 
Kangaroo Island Growth Project Stage 2

Grant approved: $135,000 Project cost: $180,000
The project will deliver a Tourism, Food and Beverage Expo, a Regional Events Bid Strategy and programs to increase leadership capability, capacity and strategic growth on Kangaroo Island. 


District Council of Yankalilla - Yankalilla, SA 
Growing the Festival of Nature

Grant approved:$8,000 Project cost: $16,500
The project will expand the existing six day Festival of Nature through additional marketing activities, a high profile guest speaker for the Sustainable Living Expo and a virtual reality experience. 


Horticulture Coalition of SA Inc. - Forest Range, SA
Future Directions for Horticulture in the Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu 

Grant approved: $19,550 Project cost: $39.550

The project will develop a strategic plan to identify critical stages for future growth and development of horticulture in the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula region. 

Adelaide Hills Tourism Inc. - Penneshaw, SA
Enhancing Digital Capability across South Australia's Regions

Grant approved: $40,000 Project cost: $80,000
The project will provide a training and development program for 160 key tourism industry people from eight different regions across South Australia, intending to develop skills in digital, social media and online marketing. 


Alexandrina Council - Goolwa, SA 
Ngoppen Ngarrindjeri Ruwe 'Walking Ngarrindjeri Land' at Goolwa Wharf

Grant approved: $25,000 Project cost: $50,000
The project will work with people to produce an Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Strategy, Ngoppen, Ngarrindjeri Ruwe (Walking Ngarrindjeri Land). 


City of Victor Harbor - Victor Harbor, SA
Fleurieu Cruise Ship and Boating Tourism Planning Study

Grant approved: $20,000 Project cost: $20,000

The project will develop a Fleurieu Cruise Ship and Boating Tourism Study.
