Land Management / Revegetation Project

A land management / revegetation project aimed predominantly at young disengaged Indigenous people was run at the Urimbirra Wildlife Park in Victor Harbor over December and January.

The Park would like to develop an interactive education program around the existing native vegetation and the history of the region including several canoe trees. The young participants worked in the heat to cut up fallen trees into fencing posts and fenced off an area specific to native vegetation. It is envisaged the program will continue with the possibility of employment at the park in the future for the young Indigenous participants to work with local elders to learn more about their culture and provide tours for school children and overseas visitors.
